Rose City
On the 27th of August I participated in the Dancesport Spectacular… ROSE CITY!. It is a dance competition for New Zealand. I was competing for Shirley Wall Academy Of Dance and was very hyped up and excited about competing but it was still very nerve wracking.
My first dancing event was number 7.
“Pippa it’s time to go to the marshalling area,”my mum said.
“Sure,” I replied. I climbed over the seats with my dance partner Max and made my way to the marshalling area.
“Ready to take the dance is Event no. 7 Juvenile Level 2 Latin,” announced the organiser. We made our way to the dance floor.
“Ok contestants time for… the Jive.” The jive music started.
“Not this one again,” I thought to myself. The song was Elvis Presley, Blue Suede Shoes and I’ve heard it so many times before that it annoyed me.
We started jiving to the music and 45 seconds later the music stopped. Max spun me out and he bowed while I curtsied and we exited the dance floor with huge smiles on our faces. We walked over to our family sitting at the table and sat down, satisfied with our performance. Our teacher Mrs Langely was watching and she thought we looked sensational!!
